The red mushroom occurs in Central Europe from June until winter, until a major appearance time from July to October. There are several recognized varieties of it (variants). The Toadstool strictly speaking, is the variety muscaria Amanita muscaria var.
Amanita muscaria var aureola is often without flakes with membranous sheath. Amanita muscaria var formosa has an orange yellow hat, and very few yellow-colored flakes. Both variations cause the same toxicity as the toadstool.
The king brown mushroom (Amanita muscaria var regalis) is youngest no more than a distinct species, as well as a variety has been run, it is very similar to the panther fungus. 1
